Bowery Poetry Club

There is a small place called Bowery Poetry Club, located at 308 Bowery Street in the vast city of New York. On Saturday, May 3rd, the launching of the 14th Issue of a magazine called Tribes was taking place in such location. When I first entered and singed up, I notice there were free refreshments, so I got excited and I rushed myself to one of the tables, sat down and started to listen to the Poets read their poems.

Reflect

I have always been a very practical person. My field of expertise relies on Physics and Mathematics, therefore, anything that wouldn’t involve numbers and formulas would automatically push me away from it. To be sincere, I was very reluctant to be a part of a class that revolves around poetry or literature in general. I have always found reading novels and poems, or even writing my own thoughts, a very tedious task. I guess I have never searched for inspiration before, or nothing has ever inspired me either.
I must admit, the first assignment given, “Antigone” was very scary because I had no idea what to do. I had never read a play before, nor paid attention to details as I had to do for this assignment. I called my girlfriend for help, and with her constant patience and dedication, she showed me the best ways to express my words at the moment of writing about the play.
